American and international students continue to be attracted to the dual master’s degree program in sustainable agriculture offered through a partnership between the University of Georgia Department of Crop and Soil Sciences (CRSS) and the University of Padova (UNIPD) Department of Agronomy, Food, Natural Resources, Animals and Environment (DAFNAE) in Italy.

Since its inception in 2007, breeders at the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI) in Ghana have produced 23 new varieties of corn, seven new varieties of peanuts, 11 new varieties of rice and seven new varieties of sweet potato.

There are more than 6,000 species of lady beetles in the world, most having different natural histories and roles in their environments. Being able to identify the different species is vital to understanding them, and knowing what they look like is typically a major part of that process.
Children enjoy a snack at school in Guyana in 2010. The school snack program used locally-sourced peanut butter and casava bread to supplement kids’ diets and stoke the local economy. The program was started with money and guidance from USAID’s Peanut Collaborative Research Program, the precursor to the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Peanut. CAES News
