UGA Extension turfgrass specialist Clint Waltz uses the drone to reduce the amount of time he and Bennett spend documenting data in fields. Georgia House Resolution 744 created a committee to study the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones, in the state. Created as a result of public concern, the committee will look at the uses of these remote-controlled, airplane-like devices, equipped with cameras and used by law enforcement agencies and other government authorities, to determine whether they invade privacy.

The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Collaborative Research on Peanut Productivity and Mycotoxin Control (Peanut and Mycotoxin Innovation Lab or PMIL) at the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences will be touring peanut farms and processing facilities in Haiti this month and hosting a mycotoxin research workshop.

Clinicians at hospitals and doctors' offices play a key role in ensuring consumers are aware of the threats of foodborne illness, says University of Georgia food safety expert Michael Doyle.
Using a partial research grant from Georgia DOT, University of Georgia weed scientist Patrick McCullough has designed a mobile app using DOT terminology to make the tool user-friendly for workers. “All the information they need to make the best management decisions for controlling roadside weeds and vegetation is now literally at their fingertips,” he said.
