Last month, UGArden Club members camped out at Shooting Creek Vines in western North Carolina, harvesting and processing wine grapes over the course of a weekend.
Ismahane Elouafi, the first chief scientist of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, has nearly two decades of experience in agricultural research and development and is internationally known for her work on promoting neglected and underutilized crops, use of non-fresh water in agriculture, and empowerment of women in science. When Joseph Gomis finished a bachelor’s degree at Université Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar, Senegal, he wasn’t sure whether his studies would lead him to work with plants or animals. With a degree in natural science, he just wanted to make an impact. Similarly, he didn’t predict how important peanuts would become in his life until he was offered an internship to work with Daniel Fonceka, a well respected research scientist with CIRAD and the Centre d'étude régional pour l'amélioration de l'adaptation à la sécheresse (CERAAS).

University of Georgia Griffin campus agribusiness major Darian Adams was named the recipient of the 2021 Marie Fort Garden Club Scholarship, awarded by the Griffin-based club to a UGA-Griffin undergraduate student in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.

When the University of Georgia Bulldogs take the field against the University of Florida Gators for their annual football rivalry on Saturday, the teams will be playing in neutral territory at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida. But the grass they are playing on could be considered home turf for the Dawgs.
