Georgia 4-H was one of 20 historic preservation projects honored by the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation during its 44th annual Preservation Awards ceremony in Macon in October. Georgia 4-H was specifically honored for Excellence in Restoration for its exemplary restoration of the Rock Eagle 4-H Center Chapel.
Oconee County's team took first place in this year's state forestry contest. 4-H Forestry 10/08/21 Craven F Hudson
Georgia 4-H’ers participated in the 2022 State Forestry Field Day on Sept. 25 at the Henry Walker Tree Farm in Jacksonville, Georgia. The state contest consists of five stations: insect and disease identification, volume estimation, compass and pacing, tree identification, and site evaluation.

It’s not every day that a helicopter lands on Cloverleaf Circle at Rock Eagle 4-H Center, but for nearly 200 4-H youth and adults, it was a spectacular sight to see during Mission Make-It in late August. Youth attending the annual non-competitive engineering challenge offered by Georgia 4-H explored a Vietnam-era helicopter, getting up close and personal tours provided by members of the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation in Hampton, Georgia.

National 4-H Council has announced that CJ Harris of Covington, Georgia, is a runner-up for the 2022 4-H Youth in Action Award for STEM. Harris is recognized nationally for his work to use 3D printing to effectively and cheaply produce prosthetic limbs for children.

After COVID restrictions forced the cancellation of the annual event last year, 69 Georgia 4-H youth joined 4-H’ers from nine southern states to compete at the five-day Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championship event held in Perry, Georgia.
