Adeline's Story

Adeline Bennett, a sophomore from Jenkins County, is currently majoring in Poultry Science at the University of Georgia, with a certificate in International Agriculture. Adeline’s passion for agriculture and policy has driven her to explore the intersection of both fields, especially within the poultry industry. Her interest in poultry science began with the strong network and connections it offers to multiple agricultural sectors, as well as the numerous opportunities available beyond becoming a veterinarian.

During her studies, Adeline had the unique opportunity to study abroad in Cuba, where she gained firsthand insight into the country’s food security, sustainability practices, and economic transition. This international experience further solidified her decision to pursue a certificate in International Agriculture, as she recognized the global nature of poultry issues and the need for a well-rounded perspective to address them.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Adeline has a strong interest in government and policy. She hopes to combine her background in poultry science with her policy experience to advocate for the poultry industry. One of her goals is to clear up misunderstandings about the industry for policymakers and the public while accurately representing the science behind poultry production practices.

Adeline’s dedication to advocating for agriculture has earned her a spot in the Georgia Legislative Internship Program this Spring, where she is working under Senator Russ Goodman in Atlanta. This opportunity allows her to further develop her policy skills and better understand the legislative process as it relates to agriculture.

When asked for advice, Adeline emphasized the importance of adaptability and taking risks. “Big risks equal big rewards,” she shared. “Take advantage of opportunities to grow, learn, and don’t be afraid of change.” Adeline’s proactive approach to learning and her commitment to the poultry industry are sure to lead her to great success in the future.

We are excited to see what lies ahead for Adeline as she continues her studies and works to make a positive impact on the poultry industry and agricultural policy.
