As we look forward to a productive 2026, I want to share some highlights from 2025 and express my gratitude to those who make our department thrive.
Cooper Maddox, BSA Poultry Science ‘26, was revealed to be one of the students behind UGA’s beloved Hairy Dawg mascot at his graduation in May, showing his involvement in one of the university’s most loved and celebrated traditions.

Cold Weather Management Workshop
This workshop is a joint effort with the UGA College of Engineering and focuses on new technology and basic cold-weather ventilation procedures for poultry house design and operation. It's an annual 2½-day workshop for industry and university personnel with an interest in broiler house environmental control.
Topics focus on optimizing broiler performance during cold weather while minimizing costs.
